Why you might consider paying for Careers Guidance for your Son/Daughter

The Education Act 2011, places a statutory duty on schools and colleges to provide independent careers advice and guidance to pupils in years 8-13. The feedback from Headteachers is that they will struggle financially to provide the same level of support as previously offered by the Connexions Service which was funded by central goverment. Most schools will offer a basic service (through assemblies and group sessions) but it will be difficult to deliver more in depth guidance.  As a parent myself, I know you will be disappointed to hear this, because we all want the best for our children. We are living in rapidly changing times and there has never been a greater need for independent careers advice and guidance. Whether your child is in Year 9 facing Option choices, Year 11 wondering whether to go to college or into an apprenticeship or in college worrying about the cost of going to university, we can help you to make sense of all the options and what financial support available.

We provide information on:

  • Options after Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13

  • The range of qualifications on offer

  • How to choose a career

  • The UCAS (University and College Admissions Service) and how to gain a place at university

  • Student finance – grants, loans and fees

  • Apprenticeships

  • How to find a job – CV and application form writing, interview tips.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch via telephone or e-mail in the first instance to discuss your requirements. We may be able to meet at your son/daughter’s school or college but if not then we can arrange a mutually convenient place to meet.
